Fitbit Ultra Review

Fitbit makes every step you take a step toward better fitness, even on your busiest days. Fitbit Ultra’s super sensitive 3-D motion sensor tracks your day down to details a pedometer can’t catch, showing your exact steps taken, calories burned, and distance traveled. The new altimeter tracks floors climbed so you can monitor this heart-healthy activity, encouraging you to take the stairs at home or work, or climb a little further on your next hike.

A couple of months back I picked up a FitBit Ultra Activity/Sleep Tracker to get an idea of how active I was day-to-day and I also thought it was pretty cool how it wirelessly uploaded my data online to the FitBit.com site.  Below is my actual data from yesterday:

To encourage you to even more active they have incentives to reach varying level of difficulty goals on a daily/lifetime basis.  Now I normally find these sort of incentives silly but after about a week I found myself changing my behavior to take the stairs more and parking farther from front of the grocery to get a few hundred extra steps.

If you really like your numbers you can also check out your lifetime stats, see below I am coming up close to hitting the 1,000,000 step mark.  It is pretty amazing how quickly these add up.

This hourly breakdown chart is one I found most insightful which shows how my activity level changes throughout the day.  But at the same time how active I really can be during a 8-9 hour sedentary desk job.

Though I would not recommend you doing this experiment but I have actually washed this time 3-4 times and still has worked with no issues…actually got a 1000 steps added during the process.  So this little thing can definitely take a beating…though best to remove when swimming or washing your clothes Smile.

So over the past two months of using FitBit I have learned how much more active I am when I take the bus to work versus driving and without taking the kids for a walk/hike on the weekends I really do not get much activity.  So FitBit has been very effective at changing my behavior to become more active and helped me become aware that I am actually pretty active for someone with a sedentary job.
